When entering beneficiary details or initiating a payment, you may encounter the error message:
"IBAN must look like..."
This usually happens due to one of the following reasons:
1. Incorrect IBAN Format
Please double-check that the IBAN you've entered is correct and matches the official format of an International Bank Account Number (IBAN). Even a small typo can trigger this error.
2. Non-IBAN or Domestic Account Number (BBAN)
If you are sure the account number is correct, it’s likely that:
- The beneficiary account belongs to a country that does not use IBANs
- Or you are trying to enter a domestic bank account number (BBAN) instead of an IBAN
In such cases, our system may not accept the input through the standard interface.
✅ What to Do
If you are attempting to pay a beneficiary in a non-IBAN country or using a BBAN, please contact our support team. The Payments team can manually process the transaction on your behalf.
To assist you quickly and accurately, please send:
- A screenshot of the error
- The following transaction details:
- Amount to be sent
- Beneficiary name
- Beneficiary SWIFT/BIC code
- Beneficiary address
- Beneficiary account number (IBAN or BBAN)
- Currency
- Payment reference/description
You can reach out via the Help section in your Payset account or submit a request here.
